Stand Up Paddle (SUP) - Introduction

Stand Up Paddling (SUP) is easy to learn and provides participants with a full body workout in a water sport that develops balance and strength without impact.

 

No prerequisite is necessary other than an ability to swim and a desire for adventure!

 

*NEW* for Sprummer 2018, we've expanded by adding a Wednesday Morning Session for the early risers!



Sprummer 2018 Details: 

Start / End Dates

Session 1 Mondays: Classes begin on Monday, July 9th and end on Monday, July 30th.

 

Session 2 Mondays: Classes begin on Tuesday, August 6th and end on Tuesday, August 27th.

 

Session 3 Wednesday: Classes begin on Wednesday, July 4 and end on Wednesday, July 25.

Session Time

Session 1 & 2: Evenings - 6:00pm-7:30pm (1.5 hours). Please arrive 10-15 minutes early.

 

Session 3: Mornings - 6:30am-8:00am (1.5 hours). Please arrive 10-15 minutes early.

Bye Week No bye-dates.  If a class is cancelled due to inclement weather, a make up class will be arranged.
Class Info

Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is the world’s fastest growing water sport! It is pursued for relaxation, fitness, cross-training, and racing!

 

This course is ideal for those wanting to learn SUP using premium equipment while in the company of a certified instructor.

 

The first class will address safety, board care, and how to balance, paddle, and turn efficiently on calm waters. Weeks 2-4 will be touring days.  Ongoing instruction will facilitate skill progression and free time to practice will be provided. 

Cost (plus HST) Individual Registration is $150 +HST

KSSC's SUP programs operate in partnership with the Limestone Boat & Board Club (LBBC).

The LBBC is a Not-for-Profit Organization for the Limestone City to offer water activities for youth and adults with a focus on developing the sport of Stand-up Paddleboard (SUP) and SUP-Rowing (SUPR) activities. Learning the basics in both activities and innovation and development of a recreational individual activity in a group environment. SUP/SUPR introduces individuals to boat handling, SUP paddling, safety, training and conditioning in a fun group or individual setting. 

This provides an introduction to the sports for athletes of all ages to progress in recreational and competitive programs.

Required Equipment

All of the required equipment will be provided. Participants should wear athletic gear that can get wet and bring sunscreen and a water bottle.

 

Rules

Participants must wear a PFD (provided) and sign a waiver form. Instruction will be provided by a Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater certified instructor.
