Kayaking - Level 2 Skills Certification

This five day (one island camping night) program is where kayaking really gets fun!

This course is designed for paddlers eager to get out on longer and more remote expeditions in potentially harsher paddling conditions.  With a high emphasis on mastering boat control by combining edging techniques with well placed power, we can really help turn your kayak into a dancing partner so you are equipped to get into the bigger waves and currents.

The program is power packed with theory topics such as coastal navigation, tides, currents, weather interpretation, wave morphology, towing systems and remote wilderness communications.  This is what paddlers need to know for those two day to two week expeditions where the great lakes may not always be in the best of moods.

For paddlers excited to go further and start to really feel the energy of the water, this is an important hard skill safety course with very tactile skills to help you make the best judgement decisions for yourself and the group.  This is the minimum level certification for anyone wishing to guide professionally in the outdoor industry or lead youth groups.

All equipment is included including camping fees for the one overnight.  Included dinner and breakfast for the camping trip.  Bring your own lunch and snacks for all five days.

Registration for this program is done directly through the 1000 Islands Kayaking website. Please select the registration button below to complete your registration.
