Cross-Country Skiing

Join KSSC in this NEW outdoor social program led by a certified CANSI instructor that will provide instructions on how-to Cross-Country Ski + tips/tricks for experienced participants. All skill levels are welcome! 


Don't have equipment? Rentals are available!


Did you know? The Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area has over 13km of groomed and track set trails to explore! Just 2 minutes north of Kingston.

All participants must adhere to physical distancing procedures and safety protocols when on site. 


Due to the Provincial lockdown, the Winter 2021 season may start later than anticipated.

However, once the Province announces a confirmed date to return to sports, Winter 2021 programs will commence and start/end dates will be updated.

In the meantime, registration remains open.

COVID-19 Protocol & Guidelines


We are committed to providing the highest levels of safety for our community.  


To ensure participant and staff safety, we have implemented mandatory 'Safe Return to Play Protocol & Guidelines' for all Club Activities.  In order to participate with the Kingston Sport & Social Club and stay in good standing, the following guidelines MUST be followed.  A zero-tolerance policy is in place for those who challenge these decisions.   

To ensure a successful season, please remember to practice safe physical distancing and a positive attitude!

All participants are required to read, understand and adhere to the following:

Start/End Dates

Saturday: Due to current government restrictions and the stay-at-home order in place, we are unable to provide a start date at this time. We will provide further details as soon as possible.

4 weeks.


Participants will meet at 10:00am at a designated location.

Each guided class will be approximately 1 hour in length, with an opportunity to continue with an un-guided ski if participants desire. 

Registration Options & Price

Individual Registration: $100.00 + HST (does not include equipment rental).


Equipment Rental

Equipment Rental: $68 for 4-weeks ($17 per class). Includes HST. Rentals are for a full day.  Please email to request an equipment rental after registering for the class.

Weather Cancellation Dates

Weather cancellation days to be rescheduled on Saturday, February 13 and/or Saturday, February 20.


The meet up location will be posted online and sent to participants two days prior to the class, along with specific COVID-19 protocols.

About Your Instructor!

Marta Scythes - CANSI Instructor (Canadian Association of Nordic Ski Instructors)

Marta has taught XC skiing for the Toronto & Region Conservation Authority, Cataraqui Conservation, various outdoor centres, camps and school boards. She has been fortunate to teach at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area for many years. When not skiing, she teaches at Fleming College and works in stroke research at Providence Care Hospital.


This is a outdoor social program that is led by a certified CANSI snowshoe guide.

Program group will be a minimum of 6, and maximum of 9 participants.

Participants will meet at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area and will embark the trail as a group.  Specific location details will be sent to participants prior to the first class.

Open skill level, everyone welcome. 

Park fees are included in your registration.

Mandatory Group Requirements

1) All participants are required to sign the waiver.


2) Hike day wellness checks “COVID-19 Self Screening” must be completed by all players prior to participation.

3) Participants must maintain physical distancing of 2-meters before, during and after all activities.  This includes arriving on-site, skiiing, resting/sitting, and departing the location.


4) No Spectators are allowed under any circumstance (this includes kids, family, friends, etc). Only registered participants are able to participate.



Participants are required to wash/sanitize their hands before and after each class. Do not share water bottles, snacks or warm clothing with others.

Participants must wear clothing that suits the weather.

Participants must bring their own set of skis or rental the equipment.  If you are looking to rent equipment, please email to request an a rental after registering for the class.



COVID-19 RULE MODIFICATIONS - Please refer to the sport rules page to view league rules.  It is the responsibility of all players to read and understand the sport specific rules as well as the general rules & club policies.


This program is in partnership with the Cataraqui Region Conservation Authority (CRCA).

The Cross-Country Skiing program will take place at the Little Cataraqui Creek Conservation Area (1641 Perth Rd - hwy 10) - about 2 minutes north of the 401 from Division Street.

The specific meeting spot for each class will be provided beforehand.
